Beauty and the Beast

Sara and her two cousins are doing Beauty and the Beast this weekend with our local high school.  The kids all did a great job. The girls were villagers.
Sara selling the flowers and her cousin Abra is the chef.

She thought her dress made her look like a 6 year old but other than that no complaints. She even at one point said that she sort of wished she had stayed at the High School. Yes she does love the social aspect of it:) Just not the "school part".
Her cousin Maddie with the gorgeous long red hair.
Gaston with his mirror admiring himself.
My daughter drinking beer. I'm so proud;)

A Party and Some Yummies!

Yesterday we went to my nephew's house warming Party. I decided to go with some thing easy.

Mini Phyllo dough bowls filled with brie and topped with either Apricot or Raspberry preserves. Bake at 350 for 7 minutes.

His house is nice. They have done a lot of work already. It was oh so seventies:) Pink rug, pink curtains, pink bathroom -- you get the picture. I should have taken a picture of the stove. It folds down from the wall! Very weird!

And some entertainment !
I just love the sound of bag pipes!

Then home for dinner. I love squash and this recipe I got from Closetcooking.blogspot.com

Roasted squash with gorgonzola and maple syrup. Jason said "ehh" but I thought the cheese with the squash and maple was a good pairing. I'd make it again.
Some panko fried chicken to go with that and there is dinner!

Delicious Dreams......

Made real.

First, get some mashed sweet potatoes and wonton wrappers. Wet the wrappers and fold into triangles. Seal them shut.

Now the recipe called for boiling them first and then frying in hot oil. I tried doing boiling then frying and just plain frying and I preferred the latter.

Golden deliciousness
Melt some butter with fresh cut up sage to dip or pour over. Very yummy. This recipe came from the blog http://closetcooking.blogspot.com

Next was some of my friend's mother's( Uma) Home Mac and Cheese. which is a favorite of my girls.
 Boil pasta of your choice.

Melt some butter ,flour, and milk to make a gravy. Add cheese. she uses American Cheese and melt.
Pour over the pasta and top with bread crumbs and Ramano or Parm cheese and bake at 375 for about 20 minutes.
Now the girls love this. Sammy was a different story. He wanted the "real kind" which ultimately means the box! What have I done?

Last was Smothered Pork Chops from Fake Ginger again!
Mix flour, onion powder, garlic powder, some salt and pepper. Dredge the chops in it and fry until browned.

Take these out and add some more of the flour mixture. Then add Chicken broth and milk to make a gravy. Add chops again and simmer for 5minutes.
And there you have it, delicious dreams made real!
